Godinton House & Gardens

Godinton House is a magnificent Jacobean mansion filled with historic carvings, decoration and a fascinating collection reflecting a rich Kentish history.

Set in 12 acres of beautiful gardens and surrounded by tranquil parkland, the whole family can enjoy an afternoon of history and horticulture followed by homemade cream teas and cake in the Tearoom.  Visit the website for our full events programme, including open-air theatre and music evenings in the gardens, our Spring and Autumn Fairs, concerts and more!
The gardens are surrounded by ancient parkland studded with stately oaks and chestnuts.  Terraced lawns bordered by a vast yew hedge and topiaried box have been softened over the last century by the addition of long, curvy-edged herbaceous borders and ornamental tree and shrub plantings.  We are also proud to host the UK’s only dedicated festival of Delphiniums each June, to which we welcome visitors from all over the world.

Please note, dogs are not permitted in the formal gardens.

House

Entry to the house is by guided tour only.  Tours run at 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm and 3:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays until 26th September 2026.

Please note: the ground floor of the house, including the Tearoom is fully wheelchair accessible, but three of the ten exhibition rooms shown on the tour are upstairs.  For this portion of the tour, a video guide is provided for guests with limited mobility before rejoining the rest of the group downstairs to conclude the tour.

The gardens are also accessible via wheelchair, but some areas are limited due to steps.  Our accessibility map is displayed on the homepage of our website.

Tearoom (for House & Gardens/Gardens visitors only)

The tearoom is open Fridays and Saturdays between 1:00pm and 5:00pm (last entry 4:45pm) until 26th September 2026.

We also welcome private group bookings for the house on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the open season and Tuesday-Thursday for the gardens.  Please visit the website for more information.
