About Santa Specials on K&ESR
We love Christmas at the Kent and East Sussex Railway and we have been welcoming families to meet Santa on our trains since 1974! There’s nothing quite like the pleasure of a steam train ride knowing your child will meet Santa and receive a named gift, all without moving from the the comfort of your allocated seats. Sit back, relax and enjoy the journey!
All Santa Special experiences include:
- 75 minute return steam train journey in festively decorated carriages
- Age-appropriate present addressed with your child's name, delivered by Santa at your seat
- Babies under 18 months of age are free of charge and receive a gift
- Free unlimited rides on the vintage gallopers at Tenterden
- Free photograph of your family group
- Visit to the station’s Winter Wonderland
- Complimentary mulled wine or hot drink for adults.

The 11.15 am train on Sunday 29th November has been designated a 'Quiet Train', for those who prefer a less intense visit. Whilst no Christmas music will be played, all of the inclusive features above will remain available with ample time to enjoy!

- What is the difference between the Bronze, Silver and Gold packages?
The packages offer different levels of seating and additional festive experiences. Bronze provides Standard Class seating, Silver includes First Class accommodation and additional elf-themed entertainment, while Gold offers Premium First seating with enhanced refreshments and drinks served at your table.
- Is there a quiet Santa Special?
Yes. The 11:15am service on Sunday 29 November is designated as a Quiet Train. Christmas music will not be played, while the other included features remain available.
