Tucked into the peaceful Kent countryside, The Big Cat Sanctuary is a globally recognised conservation charity that’s dedicated to the protection of wild cats. The work undertaken by the team is vital in saving some of the planet’s most endangered and iconic species from extinction.

Every contribution helps provide exceptional care for the cats and supports vital conservation work to protect wild cats for generations to come.

All of the Sanctuary’s work is guided by five core pillars, including Welfare, Breeding, Education, Conservation, and Rescue. The rescue operations in particular are life-changing for wild cats, including five lions that were saved from war-torn Ukraine between 2024 and 2025.

Recognised as the world’s only dedicated IUCN Centre for Species Survival for wild cats, the Sanctuary has committed to safeguarding these incredible animals for over 25 years.

The team provides exceptional cat care and ethical, sustainable, and accessible visitor experiences to inspire generations to act for the world’s wild cat population. They also proudly contribute to accredited global breeding programmes and collaborate with conservation partners to improve animal welfare worldwide.
