Brook Rural Museum

Brook Rural Museum sits at the foot of the North Downs' iconic Devil's Kneading Trough and preserves over 700 years of history. Housed in a magnificent 14th-century grange barn and 19th-century oast house, the museum collects and exhibits the agricultural and rural history of East Kent. Our collections date from the 18th century and tell the story of farming and rural life in the Garden of England from the age of the horse through to the Industrial Revolution and beyond. Most of the site, which also includes a secure grassed area suitable for picnic meals, is fully or reasonably accessible to disabled visitors, but this does not include the first floor of the oast house. The collections concentrate on the agriculture of Kent, mainly in the period when horses and oxen provided the power on the farm.
