Singing with Nightingales

Folk music star Sam Lee offers a nighttime walk to a unique concert by wild nightingales and special guest musicians as the thrilling finale to a campfire feast, featuring songs, wildlife insights, and story telling

With its un spoilt countryside surrounded by 12.500 acres of ancient woodland, Green Farm is fortunate to be in one of the 7th best location for nightingales in the country. For the third year running, we are welcoming the Mercury Prize nominated folk star Sam Lee who is bringing his after-dark celebrations of one of Britain’s rarest songbirds to the remote ancient woodlands near Ashford in Kent this Spring.

The SINGING WITH NIGHTINGALES series starts at Green Farm Kent, at Shadoxhurst, on Friday 19 April, to coincide with the arrival of nightingales in England from Africa to begin their song-filled mate-seeking season and continues on April 20 & 21 and May 17, 18 & 19.

Each event will feature a campfire gathering, in the delightful setting of Fairyland. Featuring songs and music from Sam and his guests, story-telling, wildlife lore and a home cooked feast, followed by a silent walk to a location favoured by birds that are widely believed to be among Nature’s finest singers to hear their courtship arias and listen in as birds and human performers duet.

Among the artists joining Sam Lee around the Green Farm Kent campfire will be the award-winning composer and vocalist Kerry Andrew (April 20); singer and multi-instrumentalist Christo Squier (April 21) and the flute player Helen Vidovich (May 18).

Places at the SINGING WITH NIGHTINGALES at Green Farm are £75, including food, drinks and entertainments, and are strictly limited to a maximum of 30 guests per night. To book, or find more details, including about camping options.
