Whether it's an outdoor music festival or a visit to one of our intimate music and theatre settings, you are sure to find something for all ages.

In Ashford and Tenterden, revel in a vibrant arts scene.  World-class dance, venues and festivals, ranging from world music to folk, ensure plenty of culture to explore.  The diverse list of What's On in Ashford and Tenterden ensures there is something to suit most tastes and interests.

Award-winning Revelation St. Mary's sits at the centre of Ashford's buzzing creative environment,  Set in the beautifully restored St. Mary the Virgin Church, it's programmed numerous quality events since opening two years ago.  Musical offerings alone have ranged from chamber through acoustic to folk.  Highlights include The Lightning Seeds, Fairport Convention, Gaz Coombes and Beth Orton; it's also hosted world-renowned orchestras, alternative cinema, radio plays and exhibitions.

The former home of acclaimed actress Ellen Terry, Smallhythe Place, houses a nationally-important theatrical museum, and the Barn Theatre; an atmospheric thatched cinema and performance space.  Look out for the summer-time, outdoor shows as well.

The 231-seat Sinden Theatre is named after its patron, and local resident, the much-loved actor Sir Donald Sinden.  Productions here range from stand-up comedy to quality drama.  Stour Valley Arts is famously inspired by the beguiling beauty of Kings Wood.  Thought-provoking nature-themed sculptures sit amid its ancient trees; there's a gallery in the middle of Ashford too.

In Jasmin Vardimon, Ashford has a dance company led by one of the country's most acclaimed choreographers.  Its new production space aims to bring leading dance research and education to the heart of town.

The range of exciting events is enough to inspire entire culture-based weekend breaks.  Each June hundreds of talented local artists showcase their works in South East Open Studios.  In July, Ashford's Create free music festival meshes four music stages, headline acts, street performers and food stalls.  The same month sees Tentertainment; Tenterden's free, family-friendly music fiesta, where hog-roasts, bars and food stalls surround the festival yurt and main stage.

The Tenterden Folk Festival in October, is a four-day celebration of traditional music and dance, where sessions overflow from halls and pubs into parks and streets.  Early music aficionados delight in June's Stour Music Festival; when world-class musicians deliver memorable performances in the 13th century Pilgrim church at Boughton Aluph.
