Time for Tee!

From world-class 18-hole courses to luxury country-club hotels, the golf venues around Ashford and Tenterden are superb places to swing a club.  Add 9-hole courses, driving ranges and even pitch 'n' put, and you have the perfect golfing break.

In Chart Hills Golf Club, Biddenden has one of the UK's top courses.  Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, these 18 beautiful, but testing holes regularly host major competitions.  Watch the professionals, or take to the tees yourself - visitors are welcome.  So you can pit your skills against famous feature holes including the island 17th, and Europe's biggest bunker (the Anaconda) on the 5th.

Tenterden's London Beach Golf Club offers a great golfing getaway.  This mature, 9 hole parkland venue has sweeping views, plus a nine-hole par 3 Championship Chipping Course and Prestige Putting course.  And after all that iron and wood work you can kick back and relax in the spa and country hotel.

Or if you're looking for some intensive tuition, whether a beginner, intermediate or advanced, a course at the Paul Foston Golf Academy could be just the answer. Paul Foston, Advanced Fellow of the PGA and among one of Golf Monthly’s Top 25 Coaches, has designed a sensational Golf Academy in Kent.

At Ashford Golf Club, pines and oaks frame slender fairways and small greens.  The 18 holes here are testing ones; woodlands often give way to water, and par is considered a good score.  Booking a session with the club's PGA pro could pay dividends.

With 18 picturesque holes, famously-friendly Tenterden Golf Club caters for all levels, ooffering tees from Championship down.  It also specialises in developing new players, via its Academy par 3 course and short game facilities.

The spectacular Eastwell Manor hotel, near Ashford, is home to an attractive, nine-hole course.  After playing head back to the ancient, ivy-clad, baronial pile to luxuriate amid plus, panelled rooms, log fires, immaculate grounds and an irresistible spa.

Or just turn-up-and-play at Great Chart Golf, which rejoices in a no-membership fee, no-dress code policy.  After trying its nine woodland holes, perhaps perfect those skills on the driving range, or during a session with the golf pro.  Or begin with the basics and try a round of pitch 'n' put.

Similarly, Kingsnorth Golf offers an easy going and fun atmosphere with nine holes and a superb driving range at this pay-and-play course close to Ashford.
